We need to stay outside of the enclosed ship reconstruction area, but access is available to some areas beside the ship and to the adjacent toilets. The entry fee only applies to guided tours of the ship.

Nearby sites offer good views of the river and shipping.

Parking: paid parking on War Memorial Drive up to 10 hours, 3 hour paid parking in Victoria Drive and Kintore Avenue

Toilets: public toilets in Victoria Drive behind Jolley's restaurant

Location: off Lower North East Road.

Parking: just to the other side of the L.N.E. Rd. from the gated entrance, past Perseverance Rd on the left as you come up from the city direction. It is a large dirt/gravel area.

Hours: Park is open 6:30 am - 9:00 pm

Toilets: The nearest toilets are at the park entrance off the N.E. Rd, at the upper end of Perseverance Rd, near the northerly quarry site.

Parking: Free car parking along the length of the reserve, beside Burbridge Rd. (see photos).

Toilets: Public toilets in the community centre building are open from 8 am to 11 pm.

Shelter: There are sheltered picnic areas to protect from sun and rain (see photos).

Parking: in Bonython Park (4 hours) or weir parking (2 hours).

Parking: Paid parking on Plane Tree Drive is $4 per hour up to 4 hours. There is free parking on Bundeys Road.

Hours: The surrounding areas are accessible at all times, while the inn opens at 10 am.

Access to the creek and walking trail behind the inn is via a lane between the right hand parking area and the adjacent Lion's park.

Parking: Car park beside road at Cafe 1954 with room for about six cars.  Large off road car park space on Eastern side of road 300 metres north of cafe (see (2) on map), and much further south ((4) on map).

The track on the western side of the creek seems to be close to the creek, but can only be reached by the foot bridge at (1) and the southern car park (4).

Access: by stairs or life from the closest park, or by pathway from the more distant parks 2 and 3.

The entrance gate is not open until 10:00 am.

Parking: There is 2 hour metered parking on Pennington Terrace and War Memorial Drive for $10.60. Wilson parking at Adelaide Oval North has extended parking at high hourly rates, all day may be cheaper. Public transport may be a good alternative.

Location: off Riverside Drive or Langman Grove, Felixstow.

Parking: car park at Western end in Riverside Drive, also at Eastern end off Langman Grove.

Toilets: public toilets near Western end.

Continue on Grand Trunkway to Garden Island, veer right to Eastern end of island.

There are car parks and toilets at the site.

The park has abundant car parking, with a central area for toilets, BBQ’s, sheltered areas, and children’s play areas.

There are some very scenic areas, with the larger trees providing some cover from rain.

Location: off Picadilly Road, Picadilly / Summertown.

We usually gather at the near end off Piccadilly Road, where it is still bitumen. Further up the road it goes to gravel and starts to climb, but part way up there are some nice views back down the valley.

Parking: on the roadside verge.

Toilets: nearest toilets would be at Uraidla Reserve, which is off the Greenhill Road, on the north side, just to the east of where Swamp Rd joins Greenhill in Uraidla.

Toilets: public toilets are 50 metres north of jetty cafe.

Parking: Car park across the road from the jetty is likely to be full, but the roadside parking along the esplanade should have free spaces.

Parking: at either - near foreshore cafe; or corner Dutchman Dr. and Cherub St. (with access to upper scrubland and lookout views).

Lunch: near foreshore cafe.

The cafe is 600 metres downhill from the upper parking site.

Toilets: public toilets are adjacent to the cafe, on the southern side.

Location: South entrance on Chandlers Hill Road, directly opposite Kenihans Road.

The Directions button will take you to this main entrance. If instead, you enter at the first sign for the reserve, 1.5 km from the Main South Road near Berkeley Road (as I initially did), you will be at the wrong site. The main entrance is a further 2 km along Chandlers Hiil Road, and follows a left turn at the Bishops Hill Road intersection.

Hours: 7:30 am to 8:00 pm.

Parking: there is a large car park at the reserve entrance.

Toilets: near the main entrance.

Location: Hazelwood Park

Parking: within the park - enter from Howard Terrace; also street parking in Howard and Davenport Terrace, and others.

Toilets: public toilets in the North West area of the park.

There is a covered outdoor cafe beside the swimming pool.

Toilets: 50 metres north of the jetty

Car park: Free 3 hour parking south of the jetty (approach from South St.) is heavily used, but should have spaces early in the day. Parking further south in the Esplanade, and east in Main St., is also 3 hours.

Location: off end of Samuel Street. Park in Samuel Street, walk to sourthern end, turn East to walk up steps and pathway at end of lane.

If going to the Eastern river bank, either step over the rocks at the top of the low weir, or park in Macumba Avenue on Eastern side of river, and walk up steps at end of avenue.

Location: South Terrace, between Pulteney and Hutt Streets.

Parking: Two hour parking is available on South Terrace, there is some longer parking available at a distance.

Toilets: Across Glen Osmond Rd. near Marshmallow Playground (see map and photos)

Hours: The garden is open from 8.00 am to 5.30 pm.

Location: via walk-in entrance off Lambert Ave, Holden Hill.

Toilets: Public toilet is adjacent to the reservoir playground.

Location: off St. John's Row, at the seafront. Meet for lunch in the foreshore park near Kent Street.

Parking: may be difficult.

Toilets: 2 minute walk to the North side of Jetty Road

The park has a variety of scenery - beach views to the West, trees and people in the park, and a range of building styles to the East.

Location: off Burnham Rd. Kingston Park

There is a large shelter in the reserve, in case of rain.

Parking: car park at southern end of reserve on Burnham Road, plus street parking.

Toilets: at the northern end of the reserve, beside Burnham Road.

Location: Cameron Ave, Kingston Park, access via Singleton Ave.

Toilets - adjacent to Kingston House.

Parking - in the grounds of Kingston House, or off-street parking in Strickland Road.

There is a lookout to the west of Kingston House overlooking the coast.

Location: Corner of Kirkcaldy Avenue and Grange Road, Grange

Parking: cut-away parking slots available along Kirkcaldy Avenue (see photos)

Toilets: The public toilets in the reserve are open from 6.00 am to 6.00 pm (see map)

Location: Approximately 30km from Tollgate.

Toilets and picnic hut near car park.

A nice wetlands area with good walking tracks and grassed areas.

Take freeway to Mt Barker, drive through Mt Barker on Adelaide Rd to roundabout, first left onto Alexandrina Rd then left onto Bald Hills Rd, continue past Ashton Hills golf course on the right and destination car park on the left. DO NOT follow google maps via Springs Rd, opposite side, no entrance.

Location: Esplanade, Largs Bay
